Shame on me, this post is long overdue! I’ve been trying to think of a good excuse for the silence over here. I have nothing. I didn’t come up with anything worthy of sharing, and I’m not really big on excuses anyway. Honestly, I had a little bit of writer’s block and I’ve been kind of distracted lately. Hopefully what I’m about to share with you will make up for it.
Almost 2 weeks ago I hinted that there were delicious bacon-filled treats on the way. Sorry for keeping you in suspense for so long. I pormise you, though, these treats were worth the wait! These Rice Krispies Treats may be the best sweet-salty combination I’ve ever whippd up.
I have to admit, at first, my taste-tester was slightly skepitical & a little wary of bacon studded Rice Krispies Treats. But, all it took was one small bite to elicit a big “Wow!”.
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (about half a 12-ounce box)
Butter an 8-inch square cake pan with 2-inch sides.
Combine cereal and crumbled bacon in a large bowl.
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. When the butte begins to bubble, turn the heat very low and stir in the marshmallows. Blend until the marshmallows are fully melted & the butter is fully incorporated. Turn off the heat.
Remove the pot from the stove and stir in the bacon and cereal mixture. Quickly spread into prepared pan. Use wax paper to press firmly & evenly into the edges & corners.
Let cool, cut into squares & drizzle with melted chocolate.
